Every year, over 350,000 international trade visitors, publishers, investors, platforms, developers and players descend into Cologne to attend the largest and most influential gaming event, Gamescom.
For Scottish gaming studios, the event acts as both a business development arena and a real-time market test, where game concepts transform into commercial success stories. That’s why this year, from 26 to 30 August, Techscaler has given 10 Scottish companies a ticket into the room.
Across five packed days, these founders will be pitching directly to key decision-makers, forging strategic commercial partnerships, running playtests, and gathering live feedback from a global crowd.
Meet the cohort representing Scotland in Cologne:
To ensure maximum impact of the commercial opportunities available at Gamescom, we prioritised companies with a product furthest along in their development cycle. Here’s a look at who will be joining:
Stark Holborn - Box of Greebles is a Glasgow-based small development studio made up mostly of writers. They have worked on games such as Shadows of Doubt, Nivalis, and Cloudpunk.
James Rodgers - Fish Tin Games is a Dundee-based Game developer behind the horror game The Zhukov Line.
Chris Fotheringham - Fochram Arts is an independent game studio developing for emerging platforms including WOWCube.
Kitten Summers - Haggis Studio is a Perthshire-based digital fashion and game development studio specialising in 3D digital apparel and video games.

The value for Scottish founders:
Navigating an event of this scale individually can feel immensely daunting for early-stage founders. Maximising a week like Gamescom takes strategic preparation, warm introductions, and context, all of which can be challenging for founders to access on their own. Techscaler’s Gamescom Cologne 2026 cohort is designed to break down those exact barriers, providing founders with targeted preparation and direct access to key industry connections.
From original indie titles to co-development studios, these companies represent the incredible talent and ambition driving the Scottish games sector forward. We can’t wait to see the connections and global momentum they build in Cologne. Keep a look out on the Techscaler socials for updates live from the ground!
