Fundraising is the part of the job most founders have had the least chance to rehearse. You spend months building a product and finding customers, and then you're expected to sit across from an investor and explain your market, your traction and your plans for the money, often with one shot at a first impression.
This winter Techscaler is running two programmes that give you room to prepare alongside experienced people. Techscaler Raise helps founders get ready for their first angel or institutional round, and Techscaler Medtech: London & Cambridge puts life sciences founders in front of investors, pharmaceutical companies and strategic partners.
Techscaler Raise: build the case before you ask for the money
Raise runs from 30 November to 2 December and is for founders preparing their first substantial angel or institutional equity round. Across three focused days, investor and fundraising expert Alex Rowe guides you through the essentials of raising investment, from crafting a compelling story and strengthening your pitch to building a clear strategy for engaging the right investors, in workshops delivered in a flexible hybrid format.
The first day opens with your story, where you'll clarify your value proposition and positioning and build a compelling narrative for investors. The second day looks at the mechanics of fundraising, so you can strengthen your deck and develop a clear investment case, and the third day turns to investor strategy and pitch, where you'll define your approach, identify the right investors and practise communicating your pitch effectively.
You'll also get feedback from your cohort, Entrepreneurs in Residence and investors.
"The Techscaler Raise programme has been very useful to practice my pitch, get feedback from other cohort members as well as entrepreneurs-in-residence and investors." - Joshua Hughes, founder of Synqronicity
You'll leave with a clearer investment story, a stronger deck, a defined funding requirement and strategy, and a better understanding of your target investors, plus the tools and confidence to start those conversations.
To apply you'll want a working product or one clearly underway, a clear value proposition, evidence of customer traction and a credible funding strategy, and you'll need to be a Techscaler member (membership is fully funded) with a business registered in Scotland, plans to register here, or senior team presence in Scotland. Founders who've already closed a significant institutional round can look out for a separate follow-on track launching in 2027.
How to apply: find out more and register your interest here. We will be in touch shortly after you have registered with a confirmation email containing next steps.
Please note: You'll need to be a Techscaler member to take part. Existing Techscaler members will receive a direct link to the Raise application, which closes at 4pm on 9 November, while anyone yet to join as a member needs to submit a membership application by 4pm on 4 November to be considered for this cohort.
Techscaler Medtech: London & Cambridge
Medtech: London & Cambridge runs from 15 to 17 November and is for MedTech, BioTech, TechBio and health innovation founders who want to be where the funders and buyers of life sciences companies already are. On Monday 16 November you'll attend the LSX Investival Showcase in London, which brings together more than 1,000 life sciences leaders, including over 400 investors and strategic partners, with formal one-to-one partnering built in, and Techscaler will help you pick your priority contacts and prepare for those conversations. On Tuesday 17 November the cohort travels to Cambridge for a private founder and industry dinner called When AI Enters the Lab, where you're encouraged to bring a real scientific, technical or commercial challenge and talk through how AI is changing research, lab work and drug discovery with senior contributors from frontier AI, accelerated computing, scientific infrastructure and pharmaceutical R&D.
Each founder also receives an Investival ticket, coworking and meeting space in London, introductions to relevant founders, investors and specialists, a stipend towards travel and accommodation, and follow-up support afterwards. There's no minimum revenue, funding or company-stage requirement, and you only need to be a Techscaler member by the application deadline.
How to apply: register your interest here. We will be in touch shortly after you have registered with a confirmation email containing next steps.
Please note: You'll need to be a Techscaler member to take part. Everyone who applies will be told the outcome by 30 October at the latest, where successful applicants will find a private registration link to confirm their place by 2 November ahead of founder preparation from 2 to 10 November. Applications may be reviewed as they arrive, so applying early gives you the best chance of a place.
Where to start
Raise and Medtech: London & Cambridge suit founders at different points, so the useful question is what your company needs over the next few months, whether that's preparing for a first investment round or building relationships with life sciences investors and partners. The dates don't overlap, which means you can look at both and apply to whichever fits your plans.
Both programmes are open to Techscaler members only, and membership is fully funded, so if you haven't joined yet it's worth doing that before for any of the opportunities.
