The Scottish Asian Business Chamber (SABC) is an important part of Scotland’s growing entrepreneurial landscape, supporting minority ethnically diverse founders, professionals, and business leaders through networking, founder programmes, and community-led initiatives.
Founded in 2022 and based in Glasgow, SABC works to ensure minority ethnic entrepreneurs have stronger representation and access to opportunities across Scotland’s business ecosystem. Its programmes bring together founders at every stage of the journey - from early-stage entrepreneurs exploring new ideas to experienced leaders scaling companies.
Techscaler has worked closely with SABC for more than two years, building a partnership focused on connecting ambitious founders with the networks, expertise, and opportunities needed to grow.
By combining SABC’s strong community reach with Techscaler’s startup programmes and founder support infrastructure, the collaboration is helping expand access to Scotland’s startup ecosystem while strengthening the diversity of the country’s founder pipeline.
Why This Partnership Exists
The Scottish Asian Business Chamber has quickly established itself as an important platform for minority ethnically diverse entrepreneurs across Scotland. Through programmes, community events, and advocacy, SABC connects founders with the knowledge, networks, and support needed to grow their businesses.
Techscaler’s role within this partnership is to help bridge those community networks with Scotland’s national startup infrastructure. Through programmes, mentorship, and ecosystem connections, Techscaler provides founders with access to practical startup expertise and pathways into the wider innovation ecosystem.
Together, the collaboration creates stronger links between community-led founder networks and the broader startup support landscape. The result is clearer routes for ambitious founders to access the programmes, mentorship, and opportunities that help early-stage companies grow.
Partnership Objectives
At the centre of this collaboration is a shared goal: strengthening Scotland’s startup ecosystem by widening access to support, networks, and opportunity.
The partnership focuses on helping ambitious founders connect with experienced operators, peer networks, and practical startup expertise. For early-stage companies, these connections can make a significant difference when navigating challenges around product development, market validation, and growth strategy.
By working with organisations that already have deep community reach, Techscaler can engage founders who may not previously have been connected to Scotland’s national startup programmes.
The result is a stronger and more diverse founder pipeline - one that reflects the breadth of entrepreneurial talent across Scotland.
What We've Built Together
The collaboration between Techscaler and the Scottish Asian Business Chamber focuses on practical initiatives that support founders across different stages of their entrepreneurial journey.
One area of engagement has been the Aspire Asian Women’s Network, a programme supporting Asian women professionals, entrepreneurs, and leaders. Through participation in Aspire events, Techscaler has engaged directly with founders and professionals in Glasgow, introducing Techscaler programmes to a broader and more diverse founder community.
Techscaler has also supported the SABC’s ABC Mastermind programme, a peer-learning initiative designed for minority ethnically diverse tech founders and growth-stage companies.
The programme brings together curated groups of founders for structured sessions focused on strategic decision-making, business model development, and scaling challenges. Techscaler Entrepreneurs in Residence Hannah Mercer and Andrew McGinley contributed expert-led sessions as part of the programme, sharing practical insights from their experience building and scaling companies.
Together, these initiatives create spaces where founders can connect with experienced operators, learn from peers facing similar challenges, and strengthen their strategies for growth.
Results So Far
Over the past two years, the partnership between Techscaler and the Scottish Asian Business Chamber has helped strengthen engagement with diverse founder communities across the West of Scotland while expanding awareness of Scotland’s national startup support ecosystem.
Community engagement through programmes such as Aspire has introduced Techscaler to founders who may not previously have been connected to Scotland’s startup infrastructure. In some cases, these early interactions have developed into deeper founder engagement with Techscaler programmes.
One example is Sehar Shahid, founder of 24 HR Pharmacy, who later joined the Techscaler Catalyst accelerator following her involvement with the Aspire Asian Women’s Network. Her company recently secured a £100,000 funding boost through DSL Business Finance Ltd via the British Business Bank’s Investment Fund for Scotland.
The ABC Mastermind programme has also provided growth-stage founders with structured peer support and access to experienced operators through Techscaler’s Entrepreneurs in Residence. These sessions help founders refine their strategies, strengthen decision-making, and build trusted relationships within the startup community.
Alongside founder-focused programmes, SABC continues to host high-profile ecosystem events that bring together entrepreneurs, investors, policymakers, and corporate leaders. These gatherings create opportunities for founders to build networks, raise their visibility, and engage with the wider innovation community.
“Through collaboration with the Scottish Asian Business Chamber, we’ve been able to connect with a broader and more diverse pipeline of founders and strengthen links between community networks and Scotland’s startup ecosystem.”
