Behind every Healthtech breakthrough is a founder who has spent years in the lab or clinic, working out how their research actually helps someone. But turning that research into a business that clinics will trust and investors will back can be challenging.
That's where Techscaler's Dundee Healthtech Residency comes in. A six month residency from September 2026 to March 2027 at Water's Edge in Dundee, this new programme is giving eight early-stage Healthtech founders the mentorship, peer support and investor connections they need to turn their research into a business that can raise.
Why Healthtech and Dundee?
Dundee is a natural home for this work. Life sciences is an important sector for the Tay Cities region, underpinned by world-renowned local universities and significant regional investment, including the Life Sciences Innovation Hub. That foundation has helped build a growing network of industry experts that founders can draw on throughout the residency.
What the programme includes:
As part of the programme, the cohort will receive:
- 6-months of fully-funded co-working space at the Water's Edge hub
- Structured mentorship sessions and peer support
- Access to experienced operators on-site
- Regular cohort events, exclusive ecosystem networking and invite-only industry gatherings
- Direct pipelines to strengthen their investor connectivity
This programme bridges the gap between research and commercial viability, giving the cohort what they need to turn their Healthtech ideas into market-ready businesses.
Meet the 2026 cohort:
This cohort reflects the breadth of Healthtech innovation coming out of Scotland right now, spanning voice analysis, AI-assured clinical records, bioanalytics and cardiology software.
Project Voice - Richard Steven
Project Voice is a software platform that measures key aspects of voice use, including intensity, pitch changes and talk time, providing users with real-time feedback to optimise vocal performance and support vocal health.
AffectiveHalo - Esma Mansouri
AffectiveHalo is an AI assurance platform that monitors AI-generated clinical records against original sources to detect subtle shifts in language, context and portrayal that could impact clinical interpretation.
UndosaTech lets researchers safely analyse archived medical images directly where they are stored, automatically hiding sensitive patient details so data can be reused without privacy risks.
SolDefender - David Bajek
SolDefender is a portable device that provides fast and on-the-spot verification of fabric UV protection to help manufacturers and users easily check material performance between formal lab tests.
NeuroCoach.ai - Robert Ives
NeuroCoach.AI provides an affordable, portable dual-camera system powered by computer vision to deliver quantitative, markerless 3D gait analysis and kinematic profiles for MSK and neuro-rehabilitation clinics.
Discovery Bioanalytics - Robin Plfughaupt
Discovery Bioanalytics develops advanced functional cellulose sheets, microplates and specialised bioanalytical methods that allow complex biological samples to be tested quickly and automatically, speeding up medical research.
EarthCLUST - Hajk-Georg and Madeliene Byrne
EarthCLUST is an AI-powered search platform that organises billions of proteins across nature's evolutionary history to help researchers quickly discover novel enzymes for drug development and biotechnology.
EKORA is an all-in-one cardiology management platform that centralises patient records, cardiac device data and clinic workflows to streamline operations and improve patient care.
Extending the support to the wider ecosystem:
Due to immense interest in the residency, we are extending the support matrix to 10 more founders:
- Arbor Root Games - Alfie Vaughan and Vera Silva
- Flow Systems - Ahmed Saeed
- MADGenesis - Alok Singh and Tithi Sen Chaudhuri
- Neurova - Fatemeh Hashemzadeh
- Valid8MyPain- Lyndsey Turfus
What’s next:
Founders will spend the six months building their businesses at Water's Edge, before the programme concludes with a showcase trip to a national Healthtech hub at the end of March.
